2016: Obama's America

Personally I'm not much into political based documentaries but this film seems to be garnering as much attention as anything Michael Moore has put out. What's your opinion on the politics of the film? The author? How the film itself was done and looks?

mythravere..how do you reconcile when the two intersect of their own accord independent of each other?

In other words our government shouldn't cater to people's specific personal wants or beliefs.

If everyone is treated equally then there is no problem.

"mythravere..is it only christians that you desire to keep their faith from influencing their voice in the direction of the government that they have the right to elect?"

No. Our government should remain totally impartial in regards to religious belief or nonbelief.

"Christians especially the evangelical type want all laws..."

Some Christians perhaps but I don't think a majority really does. I don't.

" Christians want to boss you. HOW??"

Christians especially the evangelical type want all laws in this nation to be reflective of their PERSONAL beliefs. Its not just the laws either. They want all facets of this nation to reflect what they believe.

Religion is a personal issue and its influence should remain a personal issue by those who choose those particular beliefs for themselves.

Keep it out of government.

This doesn't just benefit me. It benefits religious people of a types also. Its well know that Religion entrenched into government tends to become a dictatorial in it nature.

" Gays need to marry. Why?? "

Why not? This is a free country is it not?

Wanting exclusive rights to a public institution eh? What time in history have we seen that before?

Myth acts like he thinks no one criticized Bush. A real joke there, myth. Do you dream every night about 6 years ago when Bush was president? Pass into the present tme.

I do. He honored the Oval Office. Always wore a coat and tie. Nothing was under his desk, but his feet. No golf on his calendar. No expensive vacation trips. No expensive WH parties every week. No picture ops at the veterans hospitals where he visited often and regularly.yep I dream of a classy president again.

Myth you sure are in a rut. Same old stuff, day in and day out. Gays need to marry. Why?? Bush is bad. He's gone. Christians want to boss you. HOW??

And the marriage laws are already made. Your bunch is who wants to change laws. You are one weird critter

On the issue of debt. Sigh. Not a peep about debt during the Bush years. Obama takes office its the end of the freaking world.

And to top it off. The completely unnecessary war in Iraq that ballooned the debt...Obama gets the blame for the debt incurred from that!

I am sorry but spare me the sob story about this government being to big and in to much debt.

Fact: Republicans only care what the government is doing when its not doing what they want. Otherwise they are all for big government and big debts.

Just look at the topic of government reaching into peoples everyday lives. The right wails about it when it comes to them being limited in forcing others to do as they want. Take for instance same sex marriage...oh boy cant allow people to do that! Better make laws that define who can enter into marriage. To a Republican thats a good thing. Try and keep church and state separate...oh thats bad to a Republican..at least a large amount of them. Thats government interfering in something it shouldn't they say.

All that display of bias against anyone who is associated with the Tea Party, and not one single specific provable incident involving bad behavior of a member.

Opinions and feelings. You have no facts, liberals.

I believe the unthinking opposition to Obama stems more from cultural bias than racial bias.

I mean look at the charge of socialism. There are a lot of examples of socialist governments across this world. Some good some bad.

But what is the example many on the right compare the Democrats too? The Soviet brand of socialism or Chinese communism.

Never mind the countries out there that are socialist and not bad places for people to live. Nope they stop off at the worst example and foist that up as what liberals want make this country into.

Why is that?

Well I am all ears as to what caused the rightwing freakout since Obama took place.

It might not be race but there is something about Obama causing an irrational fear to overtake the majority of the right.

How else does one account for the high level of disgust Obama receives from the right?

It aint a difference of opinion. Although it is part of it. But what we've seen leveled at Obama and the left is way beyond that.

It begs explaining how a group of people can look at their political opponents and see an enemy of the state.

Bob I mean the act of projecting. For example. The feeling a person gets from seeing what another person does or says.

harryanderson, i fear you are wasting perfectly good pixels with that post.

I believe you guys are wrong. Very little of this is about Obama's race.

And as has happened in the past Ithink will wail about my obsession with violence. Buts its not an obsession. Its a fear.

Its a fear born from what the rightwing projects.

They act as if anyone not like them is their mortal enemy.

If they have a problem with then maybe they should act in a different manner.

Fat chance at that happening!

Yep. I think that fact alone drove the right insane. His name also has a role in that too.

If it doesn't sound American then by god it can't be American can it?

I often wonder what would happen to me if a Civil War broke out. When asked my loyalties I would have to say that I care about my country but not the way righties see it. In the hands of rightwingers could I expect them to show me any kind of mercy and spare my life or would a bullet be my fate?

Sadly a bullet is what I would expect.

Remember no compromise you're either with us or against us.
