Why Would America Want to be Like the EU ?

I read 4 different articles in one day this week about serious problems in Europe. Yet our president and others think the EU is a model we should follow. The German Chancellor Merkle says multiculturalism has utterly failed. Sweden's political atmosphere is changing to the right. France is having chaotic strikes right now, and their early retirement and short work week is turning the country into a disaster. Not to mention the problems the influx of muslims has brought. Including a burka ban. Denmark, Great Britain, Holland and others are having huge Islam-Muslim immigration problems. Greece is bankrupt, and other countries are having money problems. And we are behind those countries as far as citizen welfare goes? No, I don't think so.
