Tax-the-Rich Mentality

Google "Excellent Video on the Tax-the-Rich Mentality.flv" A couple minute youtube vid..and it really puts it in perspective as to how we cannot tax our way out of our Debt...we need to start figuring out how to cut some major things and learn out to exist without those things we cut.

Just because it is part of your screen name..doesnt mean you have to be one. Also...who cares where you live as long as you are taking care of your responsibilities yourself and are happy...is that not the American dream? As much as it irks me to even respond to your insanity..I did look at the pie chart and I saw how much Spending has been raised and commented below..I assume you were at a loss for words (for once) because you agree spending is way out off control right now.

By the way, 'making it' in Parkersburg isn't exactly the pinnacle of American exceptionalism, I am sorry to say...

You folks are sometimes AWFULLY comical...

Of course you had to move away for a while.

Unfortunately, TiresomeSh*t, your 'education' may have given you marketable assets, but it did not - obviously - give you much of the capacity to think clearly and logically.

Hence your CRACKPOT BULLSH(T beliefs about anthropogenic climate change, your absurd tendency to be a "science denialist", and your simple-minded political reductionism.

But then, you were probably born that way (i.e., 'stupid'), even though you are now marketably stupid.

SLING I too was not born with a silver spoon in my mouth but have achieved a level of success due to plain ole hard work. I resent anyone who tells me its not possible to make it without Govt intervention. I did have to move away for a while to gain the skills to make me successful but thats the price I had to pay.

Yea..I can see how somebody could make that argument...I guess why I am so passionate to some extent is, I was able to figure it out myself with no help from anybody..I just made the decision and did whatever I had to do to make it happen (worked my tail off)...so it just makes me bitter when people stand around with their hand out like people owe them something...drives me nuts...if you don't like your situation...do something about it...unless you are physically not able to.

Slingblade. You have to understand, the LEFT operates under the assumption that all wealthy folks stole thier money and all poor people have just not been given a chance. The mean ole rich dont pay thier "fair share" but the 48% that pay NO Federal tax are the victims and should recieve ever more benefits. It has never occured to the LEFT that perhaps spending less would be an option afterall, how can you buy votes without first taking it from those that would never support you to start with.

(…cont) the problem is everybody wants to be on a winning team and vote for one candidate just because they do not want the other party voted in… the media has a hay day coming up with dumb things that are way off base just to stir the pot and sell papers…Paul is not an isolationist quack if you take some time to actually listen to what he says instead of just taking what some reporter says about him…I am just afraid The People will not have the courage to vote somebody in that is going to make tough decisions that might cost some government contractors and/or employees jobs…but something different needs to happen…other than just voting in the guy that promises “change” …they all do that..how about a guy who doesn’t have his figure in the air seeing which way the wind is blowing (for once)..and if that doesn’t work…we can go back to the old way of voting straight ticket without considering anything other than the key terms the political parties allegedly stand for…which..these days..i

Interesting read I came across..at some point somebody has to make some tough decisions and actually NOT spend $ we do not have.."Taxing the Rich" is not going to solve this problem, like most people think..You could take every single dollar of wealth away from every single American billionaire and you still wouldn’t pay down the federal deficit for 2011. The combined wealth of America’s billionaires ($1.5 trillion) wouldn’t pay down the federal deficit ($1.65 trillion). In fact, the combined wealth of all of the wealthiest people in the world ($4.5 trillion) would only fund the deficit — not the entire budget but just the deficit — for less than three years. And that’s only if the deficit stays at its current level. And that’s only if you seize literally every single dollar they have. We need a new plan other than TAXING..it is smoke and mirrors our politicians are feeding us..we need somebody to make possible unpopular decisions that need to be made before we all go down o

I would start with the Department of Defense..specifically the Overseas Contingency Operations...we need Defense...nobody argues that..but some of these big gov contracts going overseas does not need to happen at this point in time...bring the troops home and keep the $ at home for now..until our economy gets back on its feet again. I dont really have a prob with gov spending some money on things (gov jobs, etc.) when we can afford it..we just cannot afford any of that right now..we have to borrow $ from China.

The president proposes a budget and Congress actually has to sign off on it, correct? Based on these numbers being accurate…Below is Obama’s 2010 congress approved budget (showing the % increase from the 2009 budget). The total deficit for fiscal year 2010 was $1.17 trillion, I think the below departments need some serious looking into and some tough decisions need to be made to streamline and cut “some” parts of their programs to help get the $1.17 trillion deficit under control now. $571 billion (+58.6%) – Unemployment/Welfare/Other mandatory spending $663.7 billion (+12.7%) – Department of Defense (including Overseas Contingency Operations) $42.7 billion (+1.2%) – Department of Homeland Security $47.5 billion (+18.5%) – Department of Housing and Urban Development $46.7 billion (+12.8%) – Department of Education $695 billion (+4.9%) – Social Security (this is a total slush bucket scam from the get go)

Not to get off on a tangent..but yes..it is nice to be taken care of...Not sure about the 15% thing though...you are saying the more you make the less % people pay..not sure I agree with that..if you are referencing Mitt saying he paid around 15%, that was from investments...not from wages...it is different...I am all about simplifying the tax code..however..if they are smart enough to figure it out and get away with it..then why dont you?

Now back to topic ! Facts are that if you have enough money you can buy your way into lower taxes ! The ones who have released documents have shown that wealthy tax %'s are usually around 15% ! Thats about half of what the average working poor and middle class pays !And dont forget the wealthy entitlement of 100,000$ for any one pulling down a mill or more !!It's nice being taken care of !!

Dick ,you'll find that a lot of these repubitard posters are the ones targeted by the right-wing whacko media because they are the weak minded zombies they want !! They fill their little minds with all the latest garbage and then get on here and parrot the propaganda like it's facts ! And what's particularly sad is just how easy these folks are to manipulate !!

@tired...I agree.....@dick...I will look at a chart and let you know...I agree though...the pentagon budget is waaaaaaay to big....one of the reasons I like Ron Paul.

One of the problems with your post, Sling, is this: You aren't really looking at the Federal budget and examining WHERE that money is spent. I strongly suggest you get a good pie chart of the DISCRETIONARY budget and tell us just where you want to cut from that.

You seem to think an enormous amount of that budget somehow goes to 'poor people'. Take a look at the Pentagon budget then tell me how that is actually true.

I just think your posts ought to have something to do with REALITY. It might make them more interesting to read.

But you see SLING, the Govt has no expectaions on the recipients of said benefits. That is why disability is so abused, drunks drugheads lazy arses etc all draw a check when there are some real folks that need a little help. A conservative approach would be more local, freinds churches and charities. I have no issue whatsoever with helping those in need and do so on a regular basis. I dont however help those that are not at least TRYING to help themselves. Some have little means to do so but its the atttempt that matters not so much the result. That is where Conservatives and Liberals differ in my humble opinion.
