Wall Street Protest-Main Street Protest- What?

What is the Wall Street Protest About? Some Protesters look like "hippies" from the 60's. Odd group chanting, some news accounts tell about defecation on police cars, open copulation, drug use. Is there a point to the protest? Are these Democrats? Are these Anarchists, Are these Marxists? Are these folks practicing for a greater take down to come? Why don't they have to go to work?

Bottom Line: While Bachman's Iowa City protesters might have been very rude, I don't think Bachman - or anyone - could seriously or clearly claim they were denied "free speech" as a result of the protestor's actions. As such, I believe that NOTHINK is trying to make something appear to be what it isn't. Of course, NOTHINK does this all the time. It is just another way in which NOTHINK is less than honest or truthful, but here the process is more subtle perhaps.

Finally, NOTHINK, those people you called "animals" apparently included students at the University of Iowa. It seems to me you haven't made your case very well on this one. Political speech is carefully protected under the Constitution's guarantee, and that means - of course - both Bachman's speech and those of protestors who might wish to comment on Bachman's views, (lest you forget). In any case, it doesn't appear to me that any certain attempt to prevent Bachman's "free speech" actually occurred.

If so, she should file a suit. But I am sure she will not.

As far as I can tell, this sort of thing (organized chanting close to where candidates appear) happens all the time to candidates for higher office, including Obama. It happend to Bachman in Iowa City. So?

I also - by the way - read the Des Moines register account of this incident at Iowa City before voicing my comment, NOTHINK, to give credit where credit is due.

Well, dear NOTHINK, after a careful reading of the article you cited, I am not so sure it is at all accurate to suggest these people protesting Bachman in Iowa City 'violated' Michele Bachman's "free speech".

Her own campaign had the music in the restaurant TURNED UP to counteract the "free speech" of the Bachman "protestors".

It appears - from reading the article - Bachman was not making a speech, but rather 'greeting' people. No doubt she did say things to patrons, but apparently they heard her (as far as I can tell).

It is fair to say she was heckled. That no doubt is true. She was also "disrupted" in a public venue (not PUBLIC property). But did they REALLY prevent Bachman's "free speech"? Seems unlikely. Protestors were at the limits of "political speech" and certainly rude (I don't condone it); but I don't see the clear evidence that Bacchman's "free speech" was really compromised.

I despise these animals who stop others from having freedom of speech, and I am not alone.

Plus Joe Manchin is certifiably dopey. That HAS TO BE a plus for many folks here!

Ithink - I agree! AT LEAST Joe Manchin IS a West Virginian. He isn't a New York born Republican that wears the stripes of a Democrat to remain in power from a state that he is sure will still be voting for him ten years AFTER he dies.

This near-guarenteed insurance of re-election comes in handy when you land chairmanships of senate committees to steer this country's direction without actually being behind the wheel.

Well, I am not surprised by your support of Joe Manchin, dear NOTHINK. You are, after all, easily fooled by anyone who looks and sounds like a genuine hilljack.

Hence, your fondness for old Joe. And he is running far to the right on various issues you hold dear, such as supporting the right of Mountaineers to completely destroy their own physical environment and beautiful mountains for a few profits that mostly go to out-of-state stockholders!

So, NOTHINK, I believe your are - as usual - showing all the intelligence, reasoning and clear thinking we have come to expect from you!

I do question putting democrats in office. Except Sen. Manchin is doing a pretty good job. Maybe I will break my vow to never vote for another democrat and vote for him.

WELL Thats and Ithink, there goes DICK again. When you have a point IT dosen't like, you are described as being "people who are consumed with hatred of their fellow humans" and happiest "when there is more anger and hatred in the world in general".

Who, do you suppose DICK is trying to convince to think IT's way when IT has nothing to work with but slander? IF DICK represents the best sentiments the Democrats display for their fellow citizens, others should question putting them in ANY office. Not JUST the presidency.

I don't understand your plagiarism accusation, harry, Thatsabsurd gave credit to both the NY Times and ABC News. That is all that is necessary.

Thatsabsurd plagiarized those last few posts from a political commentator named Mark Whittington. One can always tell when thatsabsurd plagiarizes.

Absurd is self-named Absurd' perhaps because Absurd doesn't bother with reason, sense, or facts. Pure animosity is Absurd's game.

Of course, Absurd is giving us this news to somehow suggest that hatred of Obama is deep and widespread. .. Our dear friend 'Absurd is HAPPIEST when there is more anger and hatred in the world in general, it seems. After all, he also has a fascination with posting stories about poor stupid people involved in violent crime, also.

But we all know that if the President of the United States were Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, Herman Cain, or any of the crew of bat-dung crazy corporate lackeys running on the Republican side, things would be FAR WORSE and the depth of anti-corporatism protest might have already erupted into a near civil war.

Yet of course, the fact that many in the OWS are dissatisfied with the Presidents attempts to compromise and forge middle-ground positions is not surprising. After Absurd is done with this accusation, he will then - in the next breath - try to portray Obama as the leftist-of-the-left, and not realize he just contradicted himself.

Apparently Occupy Wall Street is having none of it. This suggests that there is deep discontent for the president from the far left. Almost three years after Obama was sworn into office, economic malaise persists. The promise of hope and change has become the reality of anxiety and despair.

Even though President Barack Obama has tried to embrace the Occupy Wall Street movement, the favor has not been returned. This was in evidence last night when the president was at a fund raiser in New York, according to the New York Times.

About a 100 occupiers marched near the Sheraton Hotel near 53rd and Seventh Street, carrying signs, and shouting accusations against the president for being, in their view, a corporate puppet. This is an astonishing development for a president who rode to the Oval Office on the themes of "hope and change" with the ovations of some of the same people ringing in his ears who are now jeering at him. Such are the fortunes of politics

This comes on the heels of an incident a week ago in which Occupy Wall Street protestors heckled the president during a speech in Manchester, New Hampshire. At the time, Obama tried to identify himself with the protestors, according to ABC News, by talking about how the American dream was, "slipping away.&q

Hmmmm:

Here is a headline from TODAY's LA Times:

"Customers hit by pepper spray at Wal-Mart describe scene of chaos"...

"Matthew Lopez went to the Wal-Mart in Porter Ranch on Thursday night for the Black Friday sale but instead was caught in a pepper-spray attack by a woman who authorities said was "competitive shopping."

Lopez described a chaotic scene in the San Fernando Valley store among shoppers looking for video games soon after the sale began.

"I heard screaming and I heard yelling," said Lopez, 18. "Moments later, my throat stung. I was coughing really bad and watering up.""

So, was that YOU with the pepper spray ABSURD?

You say you live 'miles away' from Parkersburg...

SO IT COULD BE YOU, RIGHT?

I will bet it was. Or maybe Glen Beck dressed in drag.
