Ask Marilyn: Are We Making the Earth Overweight?
Stephen Gilmore of Charlotte, North Carolina, writes:
Marilyn: So often you hear people say that their ideal way to spend a free day would be to do nothing but be alone with a cup of tea or glass of white wine and a good book and/or relaxing music, and it made me wonder: When it comes right down to it, are we all really introverts?
I know what you mean, but I think it may be an age-and-energy thing. Meaning: Would any 22-year-old make this choice? How about a single 32-year-old? Probably not. But a married (and harried!) 40-year-old woman with two children? Maybe so! And how about a 50-year-old doctor who treks from morning rounds at the hospital to a busy practice every day? I can envision him on the golf course but not boogie boarding, even if he's in great shape.
