Wilma Elizabeth Garten, 91, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014, at Greenfield Senior Living in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
Wilma was born in Wood County. Prior to moving to Oak Ridge in 2004, she was a long-time resident of both Huntington and Parkersburg.
Wilma was the daughter of the late William Lafe Brand and Hazel Evans Brand. She was a graduate of Parkersburg High School.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, C. Tom Garten; one sister, Ada I. Richards; one brother, Paul E. Brand; and one son, Joseph Albert Garten. Wilma is survived by two sons, Charles T. Garten, Jr. of Knoxville, Tenn., and William P. Garten of Hudson, Ohio; two sisters, Eunice Parsons of Vienna and Geneva Nichols of Beckley, W.Va. Wilma also is survived by six grandchildren, Julie, Ched, Tucker, Trammell, Joanna and Alexandra; plus three great-grandchildren.
She was a past member of Enslow Park Presbyterian Church in Huntington, where she will be inurned in a family service.
