Harold E. Casto, 78 , son of the late Fred and Ollie Casto, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday morning, Aug. 26, 2014, at his home in The Villages, Fla.
Harold was a longtime resident of Parkersburg W.Va., having moved to Florida in January 2011. Within the past two weeks, Harold visited family and friends in the Parkersburg area as well as friends in the Washington, D.C., area.
Harold retired from CSX Railroad in July 2000 after a career of 45 years. In addition to the railroad, he had been involved with a brother in auto body repair. He also spent many years as an all-around handy man and mechanic for Rogers Motor Co. He was well known by all as "Mr. Fixit" as he was able to repair or restore just about anything.
Surviving Harold is his wife of 33 years, Nancy Rogers Casto; three children, Stephan Casto (Alice) of Parkersburg, Michael Casto of South Charleston and Theresa Hurley of Parkersburg; seven grandchildren, Alisha Lass, Stephan Casto II, Lauren Casto, Benjamin Casto, Joshua Hurley, Megan Hurley and Bennett Hurley, and several great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Glen, Fred Jr, James O., Danny Joe; and an infant sister, Ruth Ann.
A gathering of close friends in The Villages was held to celebrate his life.
Memorials to Harold can be made to your favorite charity. Harold always supported SW Resources in Parkersburg, Stout Memorial and Edgelawn UM Churches and recently the Disabled American Veterans and New Covenant UM Church in The Villages.
