‘Force of History’

Dave McKain’s death a great loss to the area

August 31, 2014
Parkersburg News and Sentinel

Mid-Ohio Valley residents mourned the loss of one of our great treasures last week, as the incomparable David McKain died at the age of 80. Across the region, the effects of McKain's dedication to preserving our historical legacy are evident. He founded and curated the Oil and Gas Museum in Parkersburg, curated Henderson Hall Plantation in Williamstown, helped add a museum annex and visitors center to the Rathbone Well at Burning Springs, wrote books that inspired documentary films, was president and owner of Acme Fishing Tool Co., chairman of the Civil War Roundtable, a newspaper columnist, a Rotarian and a friend to many.
