BELPRE - Belpre scored on three long-distance touchdowns in the first half and the Golden Eagle defense intercepted four Fort Frye passes, two which set up a pair of second-half TDs, in a 35-21 victory over the visiting Cadets Friday night at Ralph Holder Stadium.
It didn't take long for Manney Tullius, who rushed for 175 yards on 15 carries, to light up the scoreboard for Belpre. The senior gathered in the game's opening kickoff at the Belpre 20, raced across the field to the sideline, where he cut upfield and outraced everyone to the end zone for a 7-0 lead with just 12 seconds elapsed on the clock.
The 80-yard kickoff return was quickly joined in the scoring column by another Golden Eagle TD. Trent McCoy intercepted Fort Frye quarterback Terren Huck's first pass of the game and three plays later, Belpre QB Tavian Miller aired out a 55-yard scoring strike to Deijon Bedgood down the sideline. Bedgood caught the aerial in stride behind the defense inside the Cadet 30 and was off to the end zone for a 14-0 advantage at the 10:10 mark of the first quarter.
