C. Robert Lessig, beloved husband, father and grandfather, unexpectedly passed away Aug. 23, 2014, in the company of his loving family.
He was born on July 7, 1922, in Uniontown, Pa.
He attended college at Ohio Wesleyan University. After his freshman year his college career was interrupted by World War II. He served in the U.S. Army, went to Europe where he saw combat beginning with the Battle of the Bulge. After the war he returned to Ohio Wesleyan, joined Sigma Chi fraternity, and earned his degree.
At the time of his passing he was retired from serving as President of Tri State Roofing & Sheet Metal Company, The Mountain Company and Ohio Valley Land Company.
Mr. Lessig was an avid golfer, skier, fisherman, tennis player and piano player. At Parkersburg Country Club he was undisputedly known as having the sweetest golf swing of any member. But above all else he loved his family.
Mr. Lessig is survived, and will be terribly missed, by his loving wife of 56 years, Sandra L. Lessig of Parkersburg; his two children, R. Todd Lessig of Cleveland, Ohio, and C. Renee Lessig of Parkersburg, W.Va.; and his two granddaughters, Bailey A. Lessig and Kiersten L. Lessig, both medical students at WVSOM, Lewisburg, W.Va.
Memorials should be made in memory of Mr. Lessig to the Esbenshade Advised Fund of the Parkersburg Community Foundation, PO Box 1762, Parkersburg, WV 26102-1762.
Arrangements are being made for a private family service.
