Maxine Garnet Carpenter

Maxine Garnet Carpenter, 86, of Gandeeville, W.Va., passed away Aug. 15, 2014, at CAMC General Hospital in Charleston.

She was born on Dec. 15, 1927, in Roane County, a daughter of the late Coy Ellis and Alice Rhodes.

She was a former employee of the Kellwood Company in Spencer, and a member of Gandeeville United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her son, James "Jimmy" Carpenter and his wife, Betty, of Gandeeville; two sisters, Joanna Nichols of Newburgh Heights, Ohio, and Eloise Nelson of Belpre, Ohio; brother, Bud Ellis of Belpre, Ohio; three grandchildren, Nicholas, Jennifer and Jamie; and five great-grandchildren, Zack, Kenny, Payton, Adrianna and Zander.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny "Junior" Carpenter; sister, Edna Nichols; and brother, Woodrow Taylor.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. John Lowe officiating. Burial will follow in Eventide Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home, Spencer, has been entrusted to handle the arrangements.
