Turning trash into energy

In winter, I live in Pinellas County, Fla. There, they profit from their trash by converting 90 percent of it into energy in a small electrical power plant, selling this to the Duke Energy Corp. Enough electricity to power over 40,000 homes yearly. They also recover both ferrous and non-ferrous metals from their incinerator, gathering even more cash from their garbage.
