Winona Gail Collins

Winona Gail Collins, 70, of Smithville, died Aug. 7, 2014, at her residence.

She was born July 25, 1944, the daughter of the late Louie Gail and Wilma McHenry Elliott.

Gail was a secretary for the Ritchie County Board of Education for 30 years, and was a member of Camden Flats Baptist Church, Glenville, where she had been the piano player. She was a member of Harrisville Chapter 29 Order of Eastern Star and the Glenville Rebekah Lodge 104. She enjoyed painting, flowers, playing piano, playing cards with her family and going to church. She was very fond of deer hunting and her horses.

She is survived by her husband, Larry Collins; son, Willard Gray (Connie) of Cox's Mills; granddaughters, Lora Gray (Billy) of Kenna, W.Va., and Becky Chesser (Clay) of Smithville; great-granddaughter, Eliza Chesser; cousin and best friend, Berna Kay Ankrom; cousins, Gary McHenry, Cindy Russinoff, Steve Elliott, Danny Elliott (Peggy), Roger and Cheryl Tucker, Terry Elliott (Edith), Tiffany, Tracey and Melissa; cats, Tag and Barney; and dog, Shadow. She was preceded in death by step-mother, Emma Clayton Elliott; step-brothers, Amos and Joe Clayton; step-sister, Carol Bailey; and sister-in-law, Nancy Clayton.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10, at Raiguel Funeral Home, with Dwight Goff officiating. Burial will follow in the Ayers Cemetery, Smithville. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home, with an Eastern Star Service at 7 p.m.
