Robert "Robbie" Butcher

Robert Edward "Robbie" Butcher, 39, of Waverly, passed away Aug. 5, 2014, at Marietta Memorial Hospital.

He was born Oct. 31, 1974, in Marietta, Ohio, a son of Shelia Butcher Leggett of Deerwalk, and the late Harvey Lee Butcher.

He had proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. "Robbie" worked as pipefitter with the Pipefitters Union Local #565. He has served as a coach and umpire with Vienna Recreation Baseball. He was a WV Mountaineer fan and enjoyed dirt track racing. "Robbie" was a giving person and continues to bless others by being an organ donor.

Surviving "Robbie" are his wife, Cora Sharp Butcher; his children, Chandler, Natalie; his mother, Shelia Leggett (Louis); step-mother, Cindy Butcher Hagerman; sister, Kimberlee Archer (Wil); brothers, Tony Butcher (Jenny), Mike Butcher (Heather), Bill Butcher (Melinda) and Adam Butcher (Toni); and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his uncle Bob, and grandmother, Goldie.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with "Robbie's" good friend, John Beverly officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memory Gardens with full military rites by American Legion Post #15. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 11, at the funeral home.
