Barrick, Michael Roy, 58, of New Martinsville, W.Va., formerly of Clarksburg and Charleston, W.Va., died Friday, Aug. 1, 2014, at Liza's Place, Wheeling, W.Va.
He was born Feb. 23, 1956, in Denver, Colo., the son of Velma Irene Gilispie Barrick and the late Roy Lee Barrick.
Michael was a retired Fire Marshal for the state of West Virginia and a Methodist by faith. Michael's love for fire service began as a Junior Firefighter, later becoming a member of the New Martinsville Fire Dept. He was also active with the WV State Emergency Response System and a member of the WV Fire Marshal's Association.
In addition to his mother, survivors include two brothers, John (Juanita) Barrick of Clanton, Ala., and Tom (Julie) Barrick of Charleston, W.Va.; a sister, Barbara (Mark) Tiano of Manassas, Va.; and six nieces and nephews, Brianna, Janele, Jonathon, Kaleigh, Justin and Spencer.
Family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4, at Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory, 751 Third Street, New Martinsville, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, at the funeral home, with Rev. Greg Gillispie officiating. Interment to follow in Northview Cemetery, New Martinsville.
