PARKERSBURG - A local tourist bureau has reprinted a motorcycle travel guide.
The Greater Parkersburg Convention and Visitors Bureau's "River Rides & Scenic Drives" is a six-panel guide explaining five rides throughout the region, outdoor recreational opportunities, heritage sites, shops, cuisine and seasonal events.
"This is one of our most requested brochures," said Mark Lewis, president of the tourist bureau. "We print an average of 10,000 brochures annually and offer it as a download on our website."

In other tourism news, Lewis participated in a summit with southern U.S. tourism leaders.
Lewis was in Washington, D.C., last week for the Southeast Tourism Society Congressional Summit, a continuation of the federal outreach that the 12-state regional organization began in 1983.
"Tourism as an industry puts up huge numbers - $800 billion in direct traveler spending, $124 billion in taxes, 7.5 million jobs - but our message is smaller. That's because we want Congress to look at tourism on a local level," said Bill Hardman, president and CEO of STS.
"Tourism Works," a new report by the summit, breaks down tourism data for each congressional district and offers almost two dozen case studies of tourism economic impact successes.
"Tourism is the ultimate grassroots industry. It is critical to small- and medium-sized communities just as it is to cities with international reputations. It creates good jobs that cannot be outsourced and builds strong communities," Hardman said.
Founded in 1983, the Southeast Tourism Society is dedicated to promoting and developing tourism in its member states of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia. Its headquarters are in Atlanta.
