Lloyd "Butch" Abbott, 67, of Washington, W.Va., died July 1, 2014, at his residence.
He was born March 27, 1947, in Hereford, England, and at the age of 9, moved to Washington, W.Va. He was the son of the late Lloyd Edwin and Thelma Edwards Abbott.
Butch retired as a DNR officer for the State of Maryland, and came to Parkersburg, serving as a security officer for 11 years with the Bureau of Public Debt. He served as a U.S. Marine, having been assigned to the Presidential Detail, and was a member of the Laurel, Maryland American Legion. He also loved trapping and hunting.
He is survived by his wife, Kelly Abbott; two daughters, Brandi Mutton of Sykesville, Md., and Shannon Murphy of Woodbine, Md.; four grandchildren, Collin, Cole, Lilli and Brittany; one great-grandson, Bryant; one sister, Lyn Westbrook of Washington; and one brother, Ron Abbott, also of Washington.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday, July 7, at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg. Burial will follow at Bethany Cemetery with military rites by the American Legion Post #15. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Sunday, July 6, and one hour prior to the service.
