Beva "BJ" Kiger Cheuvront

Beva Juanita "BJ" Kiger Cheuvront, of Parkersburg, passed away June 29, 2014, at Wingate.

She was born April 7, 1924, a daughter of the late Clarence and Roxie Shephard Gant.

She was a 1942 graduate of Parkersburg High School. Beva and her late husband, William R. Kiger, Jr., lived in Bethesda, Md., while Bill was stationed at Walter Reed while he served in the Navy. Beva had worked for C&P Telephone and then as a supervisor with the General Service Administration. She was a member of North Parkersburg Baptist Church since 1946 and was active with the Heavenly Helpers, the Friendship Kitchen and the Monday Morning Bible study.

Beva is survived by her children, Michael Kiger (Kathy) of Huntington, Patricia McElhinny (Craig) of Williamstown, and Mike Cheuvront (Laraine) of Murphysboro, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Rebecca Kiger-Camilo (David), Dr. Katherine Kiger (Eric Miller), and Brad McElhinny (Karen); four step-grandchildren, Ryan, Brent, Curt and Kyle Cheuvront; three great-granddaughters, Isabelle and Katie McElhinny and Olivia Kiger-Camilo; great-grandson, Britton Miller; sisters, Jenny Sue Pannel of Coolville and Betty Jane Hillard (Charles "Pete") of Parkersburg; brother, Roger Gant of Coolville; and several nieces and nephews, including Byron Gant of Parkersburg. In addition to her parents, Beva was preceded in death by her first husband, William R. Kiger Jr.; her second husband, Harold Cheuvront; and brother, Clyde Gant.

The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, July 3, at North Parkersburg Baptist Church, with Pastor Ryan Brooks officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday, July 3.
