PARKERSBURG-Area racers know where to purchase parts, Hoosier Racing Tires, Sunoco Race Fuel and most anything they need for their racing program.
Dave Poske's Performance Parts serves drivers and tracks all over the Ohio Valley.
"We are proud of the relationships we have developed with the many valued customers, suppliers, manufactures and promoters over the past 40 years," said Poske.

Dave Poske’s Performance Parts serves drivers and tracks throughout the Ohio Valley and includes regional and international customers. The business opened its doors in 1974.
In 2008, Poske’s was named the Hoosier Racing Tire distributor in West Virginia, southeastern Ohio and eastern Kentucky.
The business opened its doors in 1974 at the 47 Carry Out. Customers were served with gas, beverages and snacks. In 1978, the inventory offering expanded to serve the 4x4 and light truck market with lift kits, shocks, winches, hubs and other accessories.
Each week Poske would travel to a well-known warehouse in Columbus, Ohio, to pick up equipment his customers required.
Retail space began overflowing due to the new business venture and to handle the overflow and space requirements and expansion was required.
The first building to house the inventory was a 1,000-foot second story addition over the store. This soon was not enough space for the business, so another expansion was called for. A 4,000 square foot, 80-foot long building was constructed across U.S. Route 47 next to the Little Kanawha River. It wasn't long that the 80 foot structure grew to a 300-foot long facility.
In 2008-the business added a second 6,000 square foot building just after Poske's was named the Hoosier Racing Tire distributor in West Virginia, southeastern Ohio and eastern Kentucky.
Trucks and trailers were purchased for service and tire delivery that displays the Hoosier Racing Tire Ohio Valley logo.
"This business venture brought us to the next level," said Poske. "Being involved with another family-owned business that builds only tires for racing and being one of Hoosier's national distributors has been a blessing."
Poske's continued serving their customers with track-side service every weekend, taking care and setting up one of their mobile stores in the pits at several area race tracks.
Other retail shops began to depend on Poske's Performance and Hoosier Tire Ohio Valley for parts and tires. Today the business serves wholesale and retail customers that not only include local and regional, but international customers as well.
"Poske's Performance Parts has been a great supporter of the American Motor Racing Association (AMRA)," said Scott Wolfe, AMRA pulicist and president. "The AMRA has been one of the most productive, time-tested regional organizations in America. It comes to promoters at no cost, only the commitment to enforce AMRA rules, and guarantee safety and a level playing field for all. Ninety-nine percent of the drivers in the AMRA, all first class competitors, recognize the benefits of the nearly three-quarters of a million dollars delved out over the past several seasons."
"The drivers of the AMRA are among the best in the nation traditionally, year-after-year. The Parkersburg-Marietta area and the area regulated by the AMRA features a hot-bed of talent and an area filled with high quality racing cars. This has been the trend over the past 50 years or so, but especially the last 30 years. Right now it is unfortunate that the economy is forcing folks to look for a good clean, family-oriented night of entertainment away from local tracks on a regular basis. It is also restricting those who want to race and forcing them to the sideline. As far as the AMRA goes, however, we had our largest membership last year and are on track to equal that this year. That is a good sign for the AMRA and a good sign that maybe things are about to turn the corner in a positive way."
"With the advent of the internet and the ability to market to any customer interest in purchasing from us, we have devoted a lot of resources to our website www.poske.com."
The business has developed a catalog that is published annually. The catalog and website have helped the business as well.
Each year on the third in January the business holds "Dave's Going Crazy" sale. Where everything is discounted. This sale has drawn customers from Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee, Ohio and West Virginia.
One of the company's newest ventures is Octane Racing Products. "It is our private labeled brand that has been enthusiastically accepted by our customers," Poske said.
Poske's has been in affiliation with Sunoco Race Fuel since 1978, which has led to it offering of racing gasoline ranging from 100 octane unleaded to 110, 112, 114 and 116 octane leaded. Sunoco Race Fuels are in stock in bulk and drummed volume for the racing community.
"The goal is to provide a consistent supply of the highest quality race fuel on the market today," said Poske.
"There is no question that you win with people," said Poske. The business has a great staff with a lot of experience and product knowledge that do a wonderful job.
"Quality parts at a fair and competitive price and available in stock delivered on time has been what the business has lived by," said Poske. "The sales staff and the staff in shipping and receiving know many of the business customers on a first-name basis."
Many competitors on and off the track are willing to lend a helping hand due to "the racing community is a big family," said Poske.
"We have made taking care of our racing family a high priority and the greatest customers on the planet have responded by relying on us for their parts, Hoosier tires and Sunoco Race Fuel."
The staff at Poske's intends to continue its 40-year tradition for many race seasons to come.
