Jean Ericsson (Arnett) Ashcraft, 95, of Paden City, W.Va., died Thursday, June 19, 2014, at Heritage Assisted Living in St. Marys, W.Va.
Jean was born Dec. 12, 1918, in Youngstown, Ohio, daughter of the late George and Mildred Roberts Ericsson.
She was a retired school teacher having taught in Tyler, Wetzel and Marshall counties. She was a member of WVNEA, NEA, Tyler County Retired Teachers Association, Pursley Homemakers Club, loved playing bridge, was a graduate of West Liberty State College (1940), and a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in New Martinsville, W.Va.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert Ashcraft, and brother, George Ericsson, Jr. Surviving are two sons, Richard Arnett of Paden City, W.Va., and John (Bette) Arnett of Haymarket, Va.; daughter, Joanna (Ron) Arnett Casto, of Paden City, W.Va.; seven grandchildren, Steven Arnett, Nancy (Robbie) Arnett, Jason (Kelly) Arnett, Matt (Krysi) Arnett, Erin (Dan) Ingram, Jill (Pat) Householder and Brian (Megan Thomas) Casto; 13 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday, June 21, 2014, at the Jarvis-Williams Funeral Home in Paden City where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, June 22, 2014.
Interment to follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Sistersville, W.Va.
