Lewis Alden Pettit, 84, of Elizabeth, passed away June 14, 2014, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born July 17, 1929, in Munday, son of the late Sherman and Mildred Bell Pettit.
Lewis worked for Pennzoil Oil Company. Later in life, Lewis was the owner operator of the Pettit Grocery in Munday.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sue; an infant son, Randall Alden; and sister, Norma McCune.
Lewis is survived by his daughter, Lou Ann McVey and her husband, Duane, of Palestine; their daughter and his granddaughter, Jordan Beckett of Palestine; and step granddaughter, Amber McVey of Mineral Wells and her children, Payton McVey and Lincoln Thorn of Mineral Wells.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to his caregiver, Cathy Bunner, for her love, care and friendship.
A tribute to Lewis will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Busch-Kimes Funeral Home, Elizabeth, with the Rev. Alfred Hickman officiating. Interment will follow in Hartley Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
