Clifford Eugene Deem Sr., 70, of Harrisville, departed this life on June 12, 2014, at his residence.
He was born at Cantwell, W.Va., on Sept. 5, 1943, to the late Kenneth O. and Martha Elizabeth Martin Deem.
Clifford retired from the West Virginia Department of Highways after 30 years in maintenance. He was a very generous man who never met a stranger. He enjoyed farming and tinkering with hit-and-miss engines. He also loved to sit in his swing and read to his grandchildren.
He is survived by two sons, Brian Lee Deem and his wife, Anna, of Gilbert, Ariz., and Clifford Eugene Deem Jr. and his wife, Susan, of Morgantown, W.Va.; grandchildren, Courtney-15, Jonathan-12, Zachary-10, Kailey-8 and Gracelynn-5; brother, Doyle Deem and wife, Janice, of Harrisville, W.Va.; sisters, Dorothy Gump, Marietta, Ohio, and Patricia (Patty) Nutter and husband, Paul, of Harrisville, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, LaVerna Ruth Reed Deem; and one brother, Kenneth O. Deem Jr.
Funeral services will be 6 p.m. Monday at Raiguel Funeral Home, Harrisville, with the Rev. David Adams officiating. Burial will be in Harrisville IOOF Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 4-6 p.m.
