Jim Fankhauser passed away Friday, May 30, 2014, in Palm Harbor, Fla., at age 57.
The son of Dr. Robert K. and Katharine H. Fankhauser, Jim was born in Parkersburg in 1957. The Fankhausers lived in Vienna, W.Va.
Jim is survived by his brothers, Bob Fankhauser of Jacksonville, Fla., and Bill Fankhauser of Hilton Head Island, S.C.; his sister, Susan of Denville, N.J.; and his wife, Kathi Allen of Palm Harbor, Fla. Jim was preceded in death by his sister, Patty, formerly of Los Angeles, Calif.; and his mother and father. He has three sons, Oliver Fankhauser of Vienna, W.Va., Chip Fankhauser and Hunter Fankhauser of Atlanta, Ga.
Jim was happiest when on a golf course and was an avid golfer. He was a member of the golf team at Parkersburg High School and at Miami of Ohio University. He competed in various local, state and national amateur tournaments. One of his greatest golf accomplishments was winning the 1983 West Virginia Open Championship at Parkersburg Country Club. While living in Dublin, Ohio, he was active in the Amateur Golf Association of America. The Fankhausers were active members of the First Lutheran Church of Parkersburg.
