Jaunita "Cupie" Estell Cornelius, 92, of Harrisville, died May 28, 2014, at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
She was born Dec. 25, 1921, at Gillespie, W.Va., Ritchie County, the daughter of the late William Hadley and Elsie J. Hawkins Michael.
Cupie worked for the Harrisville Garment Factory until 1970 when she became a co-owner and supervisor of United Manufacturing in Harrisville. She travelled until she was 78 years old helping garment factories all over the country come up to standards, including Boston, New York and Mexico. She was a member of Harrison Street United Methodist Church. She loved crafts and was a seamstress for anyone in need.
She is survived by daughters, Florence Poe (Larry) of Raleigh, N.C., and Joey McDonald (Benny) of Harrisville; sons, Kenneth "Buck" Cunningham (Irene) and Larry M. Cunningham (Crystal), all of Harrisville; son-in-law, Roger Summerfield; grandchildren, Sheila Rutledge, Kelly Wooten, Jeff McDonald, Bucky Cunningham, Tara Shaver and Kristin Mahoney; and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Kenneth O. "Jake" Cunningham; second husband, Randolph "Doc" Cornelius; daughter, Roma Summerfield; and sisters, Margaret Simmons, Betty McAlarney, Donna Mattern, Francis McAlarney, Mildred "Dickie" Wilson, JoAnn Michael and Lucille Michael.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 31, at Raiguel Funeral Home, Harrisville, with Pastor Mike Hardbarger and Pastor Robert Perine officiating. Burial will follow in the Harrisville IOOF Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
