Howard Alfred Linger, 74, of Deerwalk, passed away peacefully among family and friends on Sunday, May 25, 2014.
He was an Army National Guardsman from 1960 to 1966, a retired machinist from Walker Manufacturing after 35 years of service, a Charter member of the Deerwalk Volunteer Fire Department, an active member of the Waverly Lions Club, as well as many other organizations.
He is survived by four daughters, Deborah Nestor (David), Cynthia Linger, Cheryl Greathouse and Melissa Markle; son, Kevin Markle; sister, Nellie Cowell (Larry); five grandchildren, Christopher Nestor, Amanda Linger, Jason Nestor (Savanna) of Columbus, Ga., Andrea Greathouse and Curtis Markle; and four great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Margaret Linger; brother, Ed Linger; sister, Betty Epler; and one infant son, Ronald Linger.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Friday, May 30, at Leavitt Funeral Home of Parkersburg, with Ken Palebaugh officiating. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 29. Burial will follow at Skidmore Cemetery.
