Betty Lee Jones Morey, 86, of Vienna, departed this world on May 22, 2014, to join her beloved husband, Nicholas Morey Jr.
Born Feb. 12, 1928, in Hebron, W.Va., Betty was the daughter of the late Oliver and Zula Jones.
She was raised in Pleasants County.
Betty graduated ahead of her class from St. Mary's High School in 1944 at the age of 16. Following graduation, Betty moved to Parkersburg, and attended Mountain State College where she earned an Associate's Degree in Bookkeeping. From 1948-1955, Betty worked for GMAC. After her marriage, she went to work for her husband's business, Morey Construction, as an office manager. She continued working for her husband's business interests for the balance of her career.
In her early life, Betty was a member of a local sorority. In her later years, she attended New Hope Baptist Church.
Betty is survived by her sons, Nicholas "Steve" Morey III (Noel Mahaney) of Belpre, William "Danny" Morey of Vienna and Mark Randall Morey of Vienna; grandchildren, Rachele Nicole Morey Bailey (R.G.) of Garland, Texas, and Nicholas S. Morey IV of San Antonio, Texas; step-grandson, H.B. Hinton (Cynthia) of Wylie, Texas; her great-granddaughters, Isabella Elaine Bailey and Taylor Winsome Bailey; and great-grandsons, Vincent Hinton and Samual Hinton. Betty is also survived by adored dog, Aldo.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Nicholas Morey Jr. in 2012; siblings, Norvel Jones, Sam Jones, Virgie Backus and Nellie Eddy; as well as her daughter-in-law, Deborah Elaine Morey.
Betty was continually and always devoted to her family and their life pursuits. She will forever be remembered and missed by those she loved.
Services to celebrate Betty's life will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with the Rev. Tom Stephens officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. today, as well as from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday.
