Carey Hall Montgomery, 56, of Clearwater, Fla., formerly of Parkersburg, passed away May 24, 2014, following a short battle with cancer.
She was born Thanksgiving morning, Nov. 28, 1957, to Betty and H. C. Hall.
She graduated from PSHS in 1976 and worked in Parkersburg until she moved to Clearwater in 1986. Carey loved the sunshine and living in Florida, and on May 17, 1997, she married Alex Montgomery. While living in Florida, she worked as a title agent for various title companies. Carey had a laugh and wit we will never forget. She loved Buccaneer football season and cherished gathering with her friends to watch the games. Her dogs, Evie and Ellie, brought joy to her life.
She is survived by her husband, Alex; children, Chanan, Jennifer, Dana and Lisa Battistella; parents, Betty and Duke Atkinson; sisters, Sheri (Barry) McDougle and Tara (Bobby) Marshall; step-siblings, Steve, Jennifer, Cindy and Dianne and families; nieces, Julie McDougle and Michelle Fox; and nephews, Eric McDougle, Robby and Tanner Marshall, Destyn Wise and Drew Pratt. She is also survived by numerous extended family members.
Preceding her in death is her father, H.C. "Bus" Hall; both maternal and paternal grandparents; and niece, Brooklyn.
A farewell gathering will be held in Clearwater, Fla., on June 8 at a time to be decided.
The family wishes to give thanks to all of her wonderful friends and family in Florida for the care and support they gave Carey during her struggle with cancer.
