Roxie Alice (Townsend) Eckhart, 85, of Parkersburg, died May 18, 2014, at Camden Clark Medical Center, Memorial Campus.
She was born June 5, 1928, in Wood County, a daughter of the late John and Ida (Cale) Townsend.
Roxie worked at FMC and retired from GTE. She was a member of Broadway Church of the Nazarene and an active member the Parkersburg Womens Club. She enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by two daughters, Janet Allen of Washington, W.Va., and Barbara Amos (Jeff) of Vienna W.Va.; one son, Dave Eckhart (Amy) of Rochester, N.Y.; seven grandchildren, Kelly, Stacey, Heather, David, Dane, Sara and Ashley; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; four brothers, James, Joe, Otis and Dick Townsend; and her two adored dogs, Molly and Milly.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Paul C. Eckhart; two sisters; three brothers; and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made in Roxie's name to the Parkersburg Womens Club.
The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with the Rev. Harold Eaton officiating. Burial will follow the service at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
