Carolyn Rae Gorrell Chapman, 74, of Ravenswood, W.Va., passed away May 14, 2014, at Camden Clark Medical Center, Parkersburg.
She was born April 27, 1940, in Sherman, W.Va., daughter of Oscar James Gorrell and Cletis Armenia Wheaton Gorrell.
She was a member of Coleman Chapel. She attended North United Methodist Church in Ravenswood, and New Life Fellowship Church in Belen, New Mexico. She was a former member of Jackson County Senior Choir, and she enjoyed gospel music. She was employed by Carl E. Smith, Inc., Kaiser Aluminum in Ravenswood, and many years at Copes Supermarket, where she enjoyed catering.
She is survived by her sisters, Norma Jean Cope, Ravenswood, W.Va., and Linda (Bob) Callen, Haymarket, Va.; brothers, Marlyn (Dianne) Gorrell, Ravenswood, W.Va., and Mike (Virginia) Gorrell, Little Hocking, Ohio; step-daughter, Marsha (Mickey) Rhodes, Ravenswood, W.Va.; companion and friend, John Richards; best friends, Maxine Morrison and Sallie Cather; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Macle "Buck" Chapman; and brother, Max Gorrell.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, May 19, at North United Methodist Church, Ravenswood, W.Va., with Minister Pastor Don Maxson officiating. Friends may visit the family from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, May 18, at Roush Funeral Home, Ravenswood, W.Va. Burial will be in Ravenswood Cemetery.
