H. Michael "Mike" Blankenship, 67, of Parkersburg died Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at CCMC Memorial Campus.
He was born in Parkersburg, a son of the late Herbert and Ruth E. (Cundiff) Blankenship. He retired from GE Plastics. He attended school in Parkersburg and received a degree in Industrial Maintenance from WVU-P. He volunteered at the Parkersburg Police substation in City Park for several years. He also volunteered with the GE Elfun Society and received several awards with his son for their volunteer work. Mike enjoyed spending his time working on old cars.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Linda (Harper) Blankenship; son, Jordan M. Blankenship of Parkersburg; daughter, Robin Nichols (Kenny) of Washington, W.Va.; grandson, Trey D. Nichols of Washington, W.Va.; and two sisters, Rosemary Francis (Frank) of Parkersburg and Barbara Wilcox (Edmund) of Texas.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William J. Blankenship.
Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg.
