David J. Bash, 58, of New Martinsville passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, April 10, 2014.
Dave was born and raised in Parkersburg, the son of Lucille Barr Bash and James K. Bash.
He was an avid bowler from the age of 4. When he was 16, Dave was recognized by the American Bowling Congress as the youngest player ever to have bowled a sanctioned 293. The week after he graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1974, Dave joined the Professional Bowlers Association tour.
A union painter by trade, Dave enjoyed beagles, especially his beloved Dasher, music and his friends and family, and was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge 931 in New Martinsville.
Dave is survived by his nieces, Julie Romanowski Miller (Scott) and Lisa Romanowski of Parkersburg, and Beth Duvall of Columbia, Md.; his nephews, Al Duvall (Kristen) of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Andy Duvall of San Francisco, Calif.; and his grand-nieces and nephew, Emma Romanowski of Parkersburg, and Samantha and Darren Duvall of Columbia, Md. In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by his sisters, Janet Romanowski (Rocky) of Parkersburg, and Mary Jacqueline Duvall (David) of Wilmington, Del.
Dave will mostly be remembered for his honesty, generosity and sense of humor.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, April 14, at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Pastor Jon Lands officiating. Burial will follow at Parkersburg Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
