Robert Lee Eddy, 80, of Parkersburg, passed peacefully away April 1, 2014, at his residence following his battle with Alzheimers.

He was born in Parkersburg, June 12, 1933, a son of the late David E. and Mabel Lucas Eddy. Robert was a 1952 graduate of Parkersburg High School and was a member of the 1950 Big Red State Champion Football team. He attended Marietta College followng High School.

Bob was a Korean veteran, proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He retired from O'Ames after forty one years with the company.

Bob was a member of the Mt. Olivet Masonic Lodge #3 AF & AM, the Shrine Club, Tri County Management Club, charter member of the North Hills Swim and Racquet Club, the Wood County Solid Waste Authority and the Lions Club. He had been very active in the community and had served as president of the Emerson PTA, served as councilman of North Hills for nine years, and was developer of Northridge Terrace Addition and had coached the Worthington Little League for several years. He attended North Parkersburg Baptist Church since 1972.

Surviving Bob are his wife of 57 years Winifred Goff Eddy; three sons R. Scott Eddy (Theresa) of Knoxville, Tenn. and son DustinThompson (Angelena) of Columbus, Ohio, Dr. Steven Eddy (Lora) and sons Austin and Blake of Williamstown, Shawn Eddy (Jennifer) and daughters Katie and Lilly of Cross Lanes, W.Va., and one sister Maryland Kyer of Florida.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by one brother Noah Eddy.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Rev. Jim Mike Ward officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery with full military rites by American Legion Post #15. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today and for one hour prior to the service on Friday.
