Edwin Ellis Cox, 78, of Harrisville, died March 28, 2014, at The Willows, Parkersburg.
He was born Dec. 10, 1935, in Ritchie County, W.Va., the son of the late Lloyd Wendell and Sylvia G. Jones Cox.
Edwin was a U.S. Army veteran having served in Germany. He was retired from Union Carbide, Sistersville, with 28 years as an electrician and was owner-operator of The Sharpening Shed for 20 years. He was a volunteer for Boy Scouts of America and Ritchie County 4-H, and was a longstanding member of the Board of Directors for Long Reach Federal Credit Union and will be honored with the new Ellenboro Branch named "The Ed Cox Building." He is a member of The Harrisville Baptist Church.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Eddie E. and Rebecca Cox of Harrisville; grandchildren, Ashley and Matthew; brother, Samuel L. Cox of Harrisville; and sister, Glenda Lucille Bransford of Williamsburg, W.Va.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Glada D. Ash Cox; brothers, Francis W. Cox and David W. Cox; and sister, L. Jane Lordeon.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Raiguel Funeral Home, Harrisville, with Pastor Robert Perine officiating. Burial will follow in Pullman Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
