Opal Hodge, age 95, of Berea, W.Va., departed this life on Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at her residence.
She was born on May 27, 1918 at Greenwood, W.Va., a daughter of the late Howard and Flora Dotson Doak.
Before marriage she worked at the Box Factory, Parkersburg, the Tip Top Decorating shop, Pennsboro, W.Va., and later at Myles Manufacturing in the garment industry in Pennsboro and helped on the family farm. Opal was a member of the Pennsboro Church of Christ and the Ritchie County Farm Bureau.
She is survived by her husband whom she married Dec. 6, 1947, James Arden Hodge; three daughters, Judy Doll (Marshall), Greenwood, Paula Waldo (Michael), Bolivar, Ohio and Martha Kay Kellar (Michael), Harrisville; two sons, David Hodge (Carolynn), Harrisville, and Roger Hodge (Deanna), Harrisville; four granddaughters, Angie Michaels, Nikki Owens, Jessica Felton and Alicia Moss; seven grandsons, Kendall Hodge, Shawn Kellar, Tracy Hodge, Darren Waldo, Clinton Doll, Joey Waldo and Justin Kellar; five great-grandsons and seven great-granddaughters and another great-granddaughter due March 27, 2014, and several nieces and nephews and special friends.
In addition to her parents, Opal was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl and Marshall Doak.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 29, 2014, at the McCullough Funeral Home, Pennsboro, at 11 a.m. with the Evangelist Terry Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Berea, W.Va. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, March 28, from 4 until 8 and after 9 a.m. on the day of the service.
