She was born July 23, 1931, to Homer and Icy Kemp Jones in Big Bend, W.Va. She married Harold Ferrell on May 6, 1950.

She resided in Big Bend most of her life. She spent a few years in Florida after her retirement. As her health began to fail, she moved to Grantsville to be near her family until her recent four month stay at Cedar Grove Assisted Living in Parkersburg. She soon won the hearts of the staff there and in return she cared for them very much and considered them her extended family.

Oleta was retired from Calhoun County Board Of Education after 43 years of service. She was a long time member of the Brooksville Missionary Baptist Church of Big Bend. Her Pastor Barry Skaggs and wife June not only ministered to her, but were considered as part of her children as well. Oleta had several brothers and sisters in Christ whom she loved and was loved. She loved sharing her love of Jesus with others and always put other's needs before her own.

Oleta is survived by her children, Russell (Katie) Ferrell, Sue (Roydice) Williams, Steve (Clarissa) Ferrell and Barbara (Edward) Tingler; grandchildren, whom she loved very much, Leslie Williams, Carla Taylor, Ruscee Ferrell, Joshua Ferrell, Oliva Ferrell, Tiffini Witte and Brandon Tingler; and four great-grandchildren, Owen Taylor, Hallie Witte, Jasyme Tingler and Brooke Tingler. Also, sisters, Deloris Rogers, Leona Yoak, and Joan Jones; sister-in-law, Sissy Jones; one brother, James R. (Brenda) Jones; step-mother-in-law, Olga Ferrell; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold Ferrell; a daughter, Debra; two sisters, Marguerite Zatik and Nancy Travis; and two brothers, Cleo Jones and Denzil (Pete) Jones.

At her request, she wished to be an organ donor and will be cremated with no services as per her adamant wishes. Burial will be held at the discretion of her family.

Memorials may be made to the Calhoun-Gilmer Gideons, P.O. Box 20, Big Bend, WV 26136 or Cedar Grove Assisted Living Home, 110 Nicolette Road, Parkersburg, WV 26101.

Ellyson Mortuary, Inc., Glenville, W.Va., is honored and privileged to serve the family of Oleta B. Ferrell.
