VIENNA - A blown transformer has knocked out power to a section of Vienna.
Officials with Wood County 911 said a blown transformer in the 1300 block of 10th Street has caused a power outtage in the area, though officials are trying to assess how large of an area has been affected.
Scanner chatter indicated everything between 23rd and 16th streets was without power, and pocket areas further down also were without power.
Officials said the power company has been notified.
About 1,800 customers lost electricity, said Todd Meyers, a spokesman for the power company. Repair crews have been dispatched, he said.
The area involved in the interruption is River Road south to Grand Central Avenue, south to 12th Street, he said. The area east of Grand Central Avenue from 27th Street to 12th Street and from 15th Avenue to Sixth Avenue are affected, Meyers said.
The interruption occurred about 11:50 a.m., he said.
