William Paul George, 77, of Parkersburg passed away Feb. 26, 2014, at Camden Clark Medical Center, Memorial Campus.
He was born in Wirt County on Nov. 25, 1936, to the late Alvie and Icie George.
He worked as a Union Worker at the Laborers Local 1085 until he retired. He was a farm manager for 27 years, and worked at Penn Metal for 17 years. He was involved in many different activities and organizations such as 4-H All Star, Member of the Farm Bureau, he was a member of the Wood County 4-H Trustee, Project Sharing Organization, and the 4-H Junior Live Stock Committee, and he was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association.
He is survived by his wife, Linda George of Parkersburg; daughters, Staci Lawrentz (John) of Vincent, Ohio, Robin Lynn George of Reedy, two like daughter friends; Lynn Williams (Jack) and Becky Taylor (Randy); sons, David George of Clarksville, Tenn., Denzil George (Cheryl) of Parkersburg; sisters, Hazel Cox of Parkersburg, Roberta Dye (Basil) of Reedy; grandchildren, Reagan, Trent, Tyler Lawrentz, Chris and Jon George, Rick Jarvis, Michael, Matthews, and Stephanie, and Jeremy George, and several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Also preceding him in death is his mother in law, Louise Brookover; father in law, Cecil Brookover; brother in law; Arlis "Nig" Cox; nephew, Bill Cox, and uncle, Doyle George.
Funeral services will be Saturday, March 1 at 3 p.m. at Leavitt Funeral Home of Parkersburg with Pastor Lynn Roush officiating. Visitation will be Feb. 28 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home and an hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
