Marie E. McPeek Clegg

Marie E. McPeek Clegg, 84, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Feb. 14, 2014.

She was born at Kanawha Station, W.Va., the daughter of the late Clyde C. and Edna Bungard McPeek.

She was a graduate of Parkersburg High School and had volunteered at Camden Clark Medical Center. She was very active while her children were in school with the Murphytown School P.T.A., and was always very active in her children's lives. She enjoyed bowling and had bowled in the Senior Leagues at Emerson Lanes. She was a member of Murphytown Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughters, Rose Marie Kinney (Carroll) of Parkersburg, Linda S. Higgs (Matt) of St. Albans, W.Va., and Donna K. Evans (Matt) of Parkersburg; her grandchidren, Sarah J. Higgs (Shane Belcher), Valerie Evans Tucker (Alex) and Matthew Evans Jr. (Holly Gibson); her great-grandsons, Adam Tucker, Jackson Tucker and Bentley Tucker, and a very special great-grandson, Nathaniel.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Clegg; and a granddaughter, Maria Higgs.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with the Rev. Dan Martin officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 6-8 p.m. and Monday from noon until service time.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart or American Cancer associations.
