Helen Pursley Worstell, 61, passed into the loving arms of her Savior on Feb. 6, 2014, following a courageous 32-year battle with Multiple Sclerosis and complications from recent surgery.
Helen was a daughter of the late Ayward and Jean Pursley of Leroy, W.Va.
She was the beloved wife of Earl "Duke" Worstell, and a cherished mother of Ashley Evans, Chris Pribble, Tia Worstell and Earl Dee Worstell (Claudia). Helen was a godly grandmother to five grandchildren, Megan Pribble, Brittany Pribble, Zachary Pribble, Eric Worstell and Emily Worstell; and one great-grandson, Elijah Wine. She was a loving sister to Carolyn Thompson (Don) of Louisa, Ky., Connie Brown (Larry) of Vienna, W.Va., and Dianne Waggoner (Jay) of Raleigh, N.C.
Helen was born in Leroy, W.Va., on July 4, 1952. She was a graduate of Wirt County High School and Glenville State College. She worked as a dietitian at St. Joseph's Hospital and the Colin Anderson Center.
Helen's strong faith led her into Christian work on short-term international mission trips and volunteering at the Women's Care Center. Helen had many friends as she was the supreme encourager, who enjoyed welcoming people at her church and sending greeting cards.
The family would like to express thanks to the ICU Nursing staff at Marietta Memorial Hospital and special thanks to Dr. Rajendra Bhati.
A celebration of Helen's life will be 1 p.m. March 1 at Evergreen Bible Church.
