Larry L. Carpenter, 68, of Parkersburg, W.Va., died Feb. 8, 2014, at his residence.
He was born in Clarksburg, W.Va., a son of the late Aubra G. Carpenter and Wavelene (Hill) Carpenter Williams of Parkersburg, W.Va.
He retired from DuPont after 34 years and was an active and faithful member of Landmark Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife of 48 years, Linda C. (Bowyer) Carpenter; a daughter, Tarri Cross (Tim) of Belpre; a son, Tony Carpenter (Danielle) of Parkersburg; five grandchildren, Emily and Nathan Lewis and Preston, Katie and Abby Carpenter; two brothers, Aubra Carpenter (Veda) and Richard Carpenter (Ruby), all of Parkersburg; and three sisters, Jackie Underwood of Parkersburg, Mary Lou Miller (Bob) of West Union, W.Va., and Gayanne Crislip (Gary) of Williamstown, W.Va.
In addition to his father he is preceded in death by his stepfather, Harold Williams; brother, Dean Carpenter; sister, Susan Ash; and son-in-law, Chad Lewis.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Landmark Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Lamb officiating and military honors by Parkersburg American Legion Post 15. Visitation will be Monday from 2-8 p.m. at Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre, and Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be held at a later date at Keys Cemetery in Doddridge County.
