Anna Marie Corbitt

Anna Marie Corbitt, 82, of Waverly, W.Va., died in hospice care at Camden Clark Medical Center on Feb. 5, 2014.

She was born on July 11, 1931, in Martin, Ky., the daughter of the late Marvin and Bessie Stumbo.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Paul C. Corbitt, son, Christopher P. Corbitt (Sandi), of St. Joseph, Mich., daughters, Deborah M. Corbitt Dennis (John) and Bridget O. Corbitt Marquis (Dave), both of Waverly, grandsons, Heath Dennis (Rachel) of Belpre, Ohio, TSgt. Anthony Barnett (Kelly) of Mountain Home AFB, ID, Specialist Mark Marquis, stationed in Afghanistan, granddaughter, Stephanie Dennis Hiles (Shayne) of Williamstown, great-grandchildren Hannah and Holden Hiles and Reese Dennis, two brothers, John L. Stumbo (Phyllis) of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Marvin David Stumbo of Seaford, Del., and several nieces and nephews.

Anna Marie graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1950 and later from Parkersburg Beauty School. She worked at His and Hers Beauty Shop in St. Marys, and operated Marie's Hair Garden in Waverly, retiring in 1993. She was a member of Waverly-Bethel Presbyterian Church and Williamstown Order of The Eastern Star Chapter 58. Her passion in life was her family. She and Paul were able to spend time RV-ing with like-minded travelers; she was always involved with family activities whether with Paul, her children, grandchildren or great-grandchildren. Marie was a talented artist working in acrylics, enjoyed sewing, and hand quilting. She also had the secret recipe for homemade, hand-cranked ice cream, a favorite activity at any Corbitt gathering. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family and sharing her creativity and humor.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014, at 2:30 p.m. at the Ingram Funeral Home in St. Marys, with Rev. Elizabeth Campbell-Maleke and Rev. Ken Calebaugh officiating. Interment will be in the Willow Island Cemetery, Willow Island. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, and from 1:30. to 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Eastern Star Memorial Service, Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at 7:30 p.m.
