Clyde H. Alloway Sr., 88, of Belpre, Ohio, died Jan. 31, 2014, at the Harmar Place in Marietta.
He was born in Columbia, Ohio, on May 26, 1925, and was the son of the late Floyd V. and Sarah Grace Stoffel Alloway.
He retired from the Union Carbide/ Gulf Oil Company. He was a member of Friendship Ridge Fellowship Christian Church. He was a member and past president of Belpre Senior Citizens. He was a Navy veteran, a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He was a member of Belpre Masonic Lodge 609. He was a charter member of the Washington Mounted Deputy Association. Clyde was very proud of his family.
He is survived by his daughter, Ruth L. (Russ) Grim of Jacksonville, Fla.; his three sons, Clyde H. (Karen) Alloway Jr. of Belpre, Ohio, Thomas F. (Debbie Lynn) Alloway of Little Hocking, Ohio, and Larry (Debbie Jo) Alloway of Leesburg, Fla.; a stepson, Don (Norma) Cottrill of Cape Coral, Fla.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Jean Amick of Belpre; and three brothers, Carl W. Alloway of Belpre, Jim Alloway of Coolville and David Alloway of Vincent.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Louise Alloway; his second wife, Gracie Ferrebee Alloway; two grandsons, Jeff Alloway and Brian Grim; a brother, Floyd Alloway; and a stepson, Dale Cottrill.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre, with Pastor Mark Eaton officiating. Burial will follow in Rockland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to services Tuesday. Masonic services will be conducted by Belpre Masonic Lodge at 7:45 p.m. Monday.
