Memorial services for Denzil Edwin Riggs, 77, of Elizabeth, W.Va., will be 4 p.m. Tuesday at Parkersburg South Kingdom Hall, 1814 Gihon Road, Parkersburg. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service.
Mr. Riggs passed away Jan. 18, 2014, at Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio.
Born May 9, 1936, in Jackson County, W.Va., he was a lifelong West Virginia resident. He was an active member of Parkersburg South Kingdom Hall, where he served as an Elder for 15 years. He was also involved with the regional building committee for Jehovah's Witnesses. Mr. Riggs was a self-employed carpenter for 40 years, and also worked for American Viscoe in Parkersburg, for 19 years.
Survivors are his wife of 55 years, Ruth M. (Weaver); children, Ray (Sheron) Riggs of Jenson Beach, Fla., Jim (Terry) Riggs of Parkersburg, Cindy (David) Wittine of Goodyear, Ariz., and Brenda (Mike) Moses of Willoughby, Ohio; grandchildren, Eric (Sandra) Walls, Bethany (Dan) Cooke, Alyssa Riggs, Zack Moses and Brycelynn Moses; great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Cooke; and sisters, Betty Cline of Dalton, Ohio, Bernice Hart of Coolville, Ohio, and Sharon Chambers of Parkersburg. He also leaves many nieces and nephews and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arliss and Elsie (Heinzman) Riggs.
