Beverly Ann Crooks Dawson passed away after a short illness at CAMC Memorial Hospital on Jan. 13, 2014, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Dec. 9, 1937, in Huntington, W.Va., the daughter of the late John and Goldie Gibson Crooks.
Beverly was a 1956 graduate of Parkersburg High School and attended Glenville State College. She met her future husband, David, while attending Glenville and they were married for 54 years. Beverly was employed at Premier Photo and Best Photo. She and her husband were previous owners of Jackson County Farm Supply in Ravenswood, and she was a homemaker.
Beverly was a member of First United Methodist Church of Ravenswood where she taught Sunday School for a number of years, and was a member of the Worship Committee. Beverly was a member of the Jackson County Farm Bureau and served as secretary for several years.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, David A. Dawson of Ravenswood; three daughters, Sherri (Steve) Zelic of Glendale, W.Va., Susan (Mike) Perry of Cottageville and Pam Dawson of Ravenswood; three grandchildren, Matthew Zelic of Glendale and Cole and Summer Perry of Cottageville; sister, Jonelle Crooks-Merritt of Parkersburg; one nephew, Allan (Lisa) Aiken of Barlow, Ohio; one niece, Andrea (Keith) Thomas; two great-nephews, Deric McDonald of Columbus, Ohio, and Zane Aiken of Barlow, Ohio; one great-niece, Makayla Aiken of Barlow, Ohio, several cousins; and honorary grandsons, Jonathan and Patrick Fletcher.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church in Ravenswood with the Rev. Shauna Hyde officiating. Friends may visit the family from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Roush Funeral Home, Ravenswood, W.Va.
