Marilyn Jean Yates, 67, of Parkersburg, passed away Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, at the Eagle Pointe Nursing Facility.
She was born Feb. 5, 1946, in Fairmont, W.Va., a daughter of the late Emerson E. and June A. Haught Canary.
Marilyn was retired from Big Lots and had previously worked at Heck's Department Store, and worked for Paul Blizzard. She loved horses, drawing, cake decorating and enjoyed her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Christy J. Yates of Pennsylvania, William "Bill" Yates III and wife Tara of Mineral Wells, W.Va., and Douglas B. Yates of Warrensburg, Mo.; one sister, Charlene J. Dennewitz of Parkersburg; four grandchildren, Christopher Yates, Phoenyx Yates, Violajune Yates and Kyauna Yates; nephew, Brian Dennewitz and wife Tina of Parkersburg; and other nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Canary.
Funeral services will be held 4 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St., south Parkersburg. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until time of services Wednesday at the funeral home.
