Louis Andrew DeRose, 89, of New Brighton, Pa., passed away Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at Heritage Valley, Beaver, Pa.
Born Nov. 29, 1924, in Beaver Falls, Pa., a son of the late Frank N. and Catherine (Alquin) DeRose, Lou was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Navy on LSM No. 93 in the Pacific Theatre. He had worked 22 years at the former John Kohlmann Bottling Co. in Beaver Falls, and retired as owner/operator of a Little Debbie distributor route. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Holy Family Holy Name Society, American Legion, Post No. 19 and the S.O.I. No. 1883, all of New Brighton. He loved spending time with his family and he was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Betty (Manzetti) DeRose; five children and their spouses, Bernadette DeRose, Beaver Falls, Janet and Joseph Briancesco, New Brighton, Michael and Sandy DeRose, Parkersburg, Mary and Andy Kurtz, New Brighton, and Jeffrey DeRose, North Lima, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and his beloved little kitten, "Rosie". In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Vincent, Ernie, Pete and Jack DeRose; and one sister, Margaret DeAngelo. Interment was in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, New Brighton.
Members of the Beaver County Special Unit provided full military honors.
