James S. Duncan, 76, of Washington, W.Va., passed away Jan. 6, 2014, at the Cleveland Clinic.
He was born in Hartford, W.Va., April 24, 1937, the son of the late Stanley M. and Thelma Harris Duncan.
He worked for DuPont for 34 years, retiring in 1992. He enjoyed working on guns for his friends and family. In his youth, he liked hunting and participating in gun matches. He enjoyed watching sports and racing. He was a member of the WV National Guard. His greatest accomplishment was being a wonderful provider, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Goldie Kearns Duncan; three children, Janet (David) VanKirk, Patricia (Brad ) Johnson and James (Becky) Duncan; five grandchildren, Chris Johnson, Elissa VanKirk, Jay Duncan, Cory VanKirk, who is serving in Afghanistan, and Adam Duncan; two great-grandchildren, Alexis and Caitlin Johnson; two brothers, Eugene (Emogene) Duncan of Washington, W.Va., and Cecil (Shelby) Duncan of New Haven, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no services.
