Darlene Garrett, 63, of Harrisville, W.Va., died Dec. 5, 2013.
She was born on July 21, 1950, in Baltimore, Md., the daughter of Edward and Teresa Sliwinski.
She was a loving wife, mother and community volunteer. She was a member of Christ Our Hope Church where she served as a bookkeeper, a member of the financial committee and a Sunday School teacher. She was an avid gardener and artist.
Surviving, in addition to her husband of 40 years, Joseph L. Garrett, are her three daughters, Kimberly Holton (Jeremy) of Houston, Texas, Aimee Mucino (Helius) of Greensburg, Pa., and Bethany Garrett of Port Orange, Fla. She is also survived by her brother, Larry Sliwinski of Baltimore, Md.; and her four grandchildren, Liam Mucino, Dannika Mucino, Lex Holton and Ellia Holton.
There will be no funeral service at this time as she donated her body to the WVU Human Gift Registry for educational purposes.
A memorial service will be scheduled in the spring for family and friends.
Darlene asked that any donations be sent to West Virginia University, Human Gift Registry, 1 Stadium Drive, Morgantown, WV 26505 for ovarian cancer research.
