Billie Joe "B.J." Sprouse Sr., 76, of Parkersburg, passed away Dec. 27, 2013, at Camden Clark Medical Center.
He was born Nov. 25, 1937, in Parkersburg, a son to the late William Sprouse and Helen Stutler Owens.
He retired as a master mechanic for Operating Engineers Local 18 after over 50 years of service. He was also a 3rd Degree Mason and member of the Belpre Masonic Lodge for over 40 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Brady Jason Sprouse; his stepfather, Brady Owens; wife, Carol Sprouse; and sister, Joan Smith.
He is survived by his son, Billie Joe Sprouse Jr. of Parkersburg; daughters, Cindy West (Phil) of St. Marys and Mary Murphy (Randy) of Cumming, Ga.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; siblings, Juanita Mills (Lewis) of Washington, W.Va., Jack Sprouse (Annette) of California and Bobbie Sprouse (Ada) of Florida; along with many other nieces, nephews and extended family.
Service will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with the Rev. Jim Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Monday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
