PARKERSBURG - Parkersburg trash pickup will resume Thursday, including Christmas tree disposal.
Steve Cox, assistant director of Public Works, said due to Christmas, trash pickup will be delayed by one day.
"When they come back on Thursday they will be doing Wednesday pickup, and so on," he said.
Though crews are expecting a few extra loads of trash due to the holiday, such as packaging and wrapping paper, pickup times and restrictions will be unchanged.
"They'll be running their regular routes," he said.
The city also will begin collecting live Christmas trees. Mayor Bob Newell said it is a service the city has provided for years and residents are encouraged to place their trees next to the curb for pickup.
Newell said in years past the city has had collection locations, such as City Park, for residents to dispose of their trees. No collection site has yet been announced.
"Honestly, it's easier for them to put the trees at the curb than to have to haul it anywhere," Newell said.
